Miss Chow’s Dumpling Festival @ Leederville Precinct

We can’t think of a better way to round out this glorious September than by popping into the Leederville Precinct and catching one (or more) of Miss Chow’s four-day dumpling festival! From September 28 until October 1 you can indulge in an Omakase Banquet from the Heart, AFL Grand Final Yum Cha, Eternal bottomless Yum Cha or Chow’s Hawker Hut! Architects of Air’s Arborialis @ Fremantle Arts Centre

A giant labyrinth of interconnected, inflatable domes will be popping up from Saturday at Fremantle Arts Centre. Titled Aborialis, the immersive experience is from UK creatives Architects of Air, who have been creating their ephemeral “luminaria” since 1992 – welcoming over three million visitors in over 40 countries since then. Perth Royal Show @ Claremont Showground

Showcasing over 400 entertainers, 300 performances and endless hours of enjoyment across and more than 101 free things to see and do, the Perth Royal Show is back again this school holidays, taking over the Claremont Showgrounds from September 23-September 30. Tickets are on sale via the Perth Royal Show website.

Mary Poppins @ Crown Theatre

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed new production of Mary Poppins will be enchanting audiences at Perth’s Crown Theatre until October 22. Based on the beloved stories by PL Travers and the iconic original film, Mary Poppins the heartwarming tale revolves around the power of family and the boundless potential that resides within each of us. Tickets are on sale now.

YUCK Circus @ The Rechabite

High-flying acrobatics meets Mad Max mania in the female-led, award-winning troupe YUCK Circus’ apocalyptic, high-octane show called WREKD. The WA performers will be flinging themselves through the air with reckless abandon in a mixture of circus, comedy and cabaret. It’s brash, it’s bold, and it’s sure to bring a few hearty laughs, too. Think barbed wire, leather and mullets – it’s the end of the world, baby!

Everlasting Kings Park Festival @ Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Celebrate WA’s wonderful wildflowers with a visit to the Everlasting Kings Park Festival, starting on Friday and running until October 1. The festival’s diamond anniversary, visitors can enjoy not just the breathtaking blooms of everlastings and other native flora, but workshops, tours, art displays, guided walks and family-friendly activities. Discovering Egypt @ WA Museum Boola Bardip

The WA Museum Boola Bardip has opened its doors to Discovering Ancient Egypt – a new, major exhibition exploring ancient Egyptian civilisation and how they lived and celebrated the afterlife. It features more than 240 ancient objects on loan from Rijksmuseum van Oudheden’s treasured Egyptian and Nubian collections in the Netherlands, and looks absolutely incredible.

FORM Gallery’s new exhibition, we didn’t get tired, we just kept going, celebrates the remarkable story and talents of revered senior Martu artists Mayiwalku (Maywokka) Chapman, Mulyatingki Marney, and Nyanjilpayi (Ngarnjapayi) Chapman, three sisters of the pujiman (traditional/desert-dwelling) generation. ām / ammā / mā maram Exhibition @ PICA

Brisbane-based artist Sancintya Mohini Simpson explores her matrilineal heritage and the histories of indentured Indian women through a striking combination of paintings, sculpture, poetry and scent, utilising materials common to these places and histories – such as sugarcane and mango. The exhibition runs until October 22 – find out more here.

Spinifex Artists – Sun and Shadow @ Japingka Gallery

Presented in association with Spinifex Arts Project, Sun and Shadow celebrates the art of the Pila Nguru People of the Great Victoria Desert with an exhibition that showcases their deep connection to the landscape. The exhibition runs until October 31 at Japingka Gallery, with an opening night celebration on Friday – find out more here.


THURSDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

Bottomless BBQ @ The Guildford Hotel

It’s that time of the month for Guildford Hotel’s Thursday night Bottomless BBQ, featuring bottomless barbequed meats, loads sides, free-flowing drinks and at the end of it all – a very full tum! Book ahead here.

The Leederville Comedy Club @ Leederville Hotel

Every Thursday, the recently renovated Red Room will transform into a comedy showcase of local, national and international talent, with a rotating selection of signature comedy cocktails to keep your funny bone well-lubricated – think the Steve Martini, Margarita Cho, Gin Jefferies or Shandy Samberg!


FRIDAY 29 SEPTEMBER

AFLW Parmi Special @ Vic Park Hotel

This AFLW Season head to the Vic Park Hotel in the two hours before and after games at nearby Mineral Resources Park for their $22 Chicken Parmi special, washed down with a $12 Balter Pint. This Friday the Eagles take on Port Adelaide at 7.15pm, so head to the Vic from 5-7pm or 9-11pm!

Flashdance Fridays @ Neon Palms

Double your dose of disco at Neon Palms every Friday night! The Miami-inspired bar will be serving up throwback ’80s style cocktails (think Harvey Wallbangers, Blue Hawaiians and Midori Sours) at some retro prices, while the disco tunes keep it pumping all night long.

Afterlife Bar @ WA Museum Boola Bardip

Pop into the WA Museum Boola Bardip every Friday from 5.30-8pm for a few sneaky drinks with Tutankhamun when the Ancient Egypt exhibition’s bar opens up. Themed cocktails, expert talks and more await – tickets here.


SATURDAY 30 SEPTEMBER

AFL Grand Final @ Various

After the longest AFL season in history, it’s finally all come down to this Saturday when Collingwood take on Brisbane at the big dance. First bounce is at 12.30pm WST, and the game will be screening live at dozens of our fave venues around the city, including a huge car park party at the Subi Hotel; a few different events at the home of AFL in Perth – Optus Stadium; and some epic bottomless grand final day packages at the likes of the Claremont, Market Grounds, The Camfield and many more.

Social Saturdays @ The Rosemount

Scarborough Sunset Markets’ cosy Saturday evening winter edition is on again, featuring almost 50 foodies and retailers coming together under the clocktower, DJs and firepits (marshmallows anyone?) to keep you warm and more from 3-8pm.

Garden & Sound Sessions #1 @ Alfred Cove

The City of Melville is shining a light on the leafy sanctuaries, luscious landscaping, blooming verge gardens and abundant oasis’s of edible produce as garden owners across Melville open their gates for the new Garden & Sound Sessions. The first edition goes down this Sunday at Lorraine’s garden in Alfred Cove, and will feature special guest speaker Lorraine Harrison and live music from Jere Sosa. WA Bike Month Launch @ Lake Monger

WA Bike Month blasts off at Lake Monger this Sunday with obstacle courses, BMX, trishaws and much more, with a focus on families and fun. There’ll be plenty of activities and free workshops between 1-4pm around the Lake Monger Pump Track Reserve including – get all the deets here.

Reclink Community Cup @ Fremantle Oval

The Reclink Community Cup returns to Fremantle Oval on October 1 for its eighth year in Western Australia and 30th year across Australia, a fun game of Aussie rules between Perth’s media and arts personalities (the Newshounds) taking on local musos (Bandgropers). This fundraising event is a fantastic day out for the whole fam, with live music, food trucks, bars and more around bouncedown at 1pm.
