Cute and cosy accommodation stays within two hours of Perth
We get it – it’s hard to find the time for a day to yourself, let alone a full weekend or longer that’s hours driving away…
Perhaps you’ve got a little gap in the schedule that might allow you a quick getaway that doesn’t involve too much driving and if so, we’re here to help.
Below you’ll find a few options that while may only be within a couple of hours of the CBD, will hopefully transport you a lifetime away from the worries of the daily grind.
Heyscape Tiny Cabins is the brainchild WA-based duo Pierre and Sam, lovers of nature and digital detoxes seeking to create experiences of solitude amongst the natural landscape. And so Heyscape is a an array of purpose-built tiny cabins, taking up tiny spaces on big private properties and a wonderful opportunity to disconnect from the daily drudgery. Stylishly appointed with stunning views, their “outposts” are all within a couple of hours drive from Perth, (mostly) accessible by 2WD and perfect for a quick weekend getaway.
Lake Brockman Tourist Park
Along with plenty of campsites around Lake Brockman and Logue Brook Dam, the tourist park there also has a bunch of fixed accommodation options and glamping on site. There’s a few different options when it comes to cabins, including ones that sleep up to six people, with air conditioning during the warmer months and some outdoor fire pits to gather round when it gets cooler. All of that said, we gotta say the glamping option looks mighty inviting…
Less than an hours drive northeast out of Perth, Chittering is a beautiful part of Western Australia. Along with a few excellent wineries and walking trails, the Chittering Valley is home to the stunning Brockman River, surrounded by WA flora and fauna with towering gum trees and awe-inspiring tourist drives. One such way to enjoy all of these and more is with a stay at this spectacular Chittering Heights Tree House, located on 165 acres overlooking the valley and Brockman River below. It’s suitable as a nice romantic getaway for a couple, although can sleep up to six adults, and is filled with fantastic features.

Looking for a quick romantic getaway without having to go too far from the city? Swan Valley Retreat in Henley Brook might be just the ticket. Featuring barbecue facilities, lush green gardens, sauna, lakeside views and more, it’s rated 9.8 on Booking.com by couples. The units in the retreat are all equipped with coffee machines, air con and flat-screen TVs for max relaxing, and you can also enjoy relaxing spa treatments and massages at the retreat. It’s only 20 kilometres from the CBD, and puts you right in the heart of Perth’s wine and brewery country, and the 13-acre property itself is great for exploring in its own right, also featuring a tennis court and open fire pit to keep cosy in winter.
The Edge Retreat
Another Chittering gem, The Edge Retreat overhangs a granite ride overlooking Chittering Valley and is designed to make sure you take life “slow and easy”. It’s only open during the winter season, meaning getaways are all about relaxing by the fireplace, reading books, listening to the birds amongst the trees on the beautiful deck and of course, soaking in the outdoor bath tub. There’s also a cute little campfire pit AKA the “Circle of Truth” which means, you must not lie when sitting around it!

With four bedroom it can sleep up to eight people, with plenty of space on the expansive deck to enjoy a few wines together over the barbecue. There’s also a plunge pool that overlooks the pond and has heating for the cooler months. It was only finished in 2021, meaning it’s absolutely kitted out with high-end furnishings, linens and kitchenware – enjoy, and don’t forget to say hello to the resident alpacas!
There’s a few Hidden Cabins to choose from around WA, but you’ve got two options within a couple of hours of Perth – ‘Florence’ in the Peel region and ‘Henry’ in the Ferguson Valley. Both options will find you nestled amongst stunning Australian bushland enjoying books, bush walks, board games and a sneaky bottle of red or two. All Hidden Cabins are equipped to have you feeling comfy and cosy, while giving you every opportunity to properly disconnect from the rat race.

Kangaroo Valley Homestead
Amidst some beautiful Australian bush landscapes, Kangaroo Valley Homestead is an eco-friendly stay with a few different suites to choose from, including the ability to book out whole venue. It’s also probably one of our most-buzzed about stays simply thanks to the photo below and it’s hardly surprising. Sitting in a couple of hot tubs overlooking a pool and bushland with a couple of champagnes in hand doesn’t seem like to bad a way to spend the weekend if you ask us.
1853 on the Market
It doesn’t really get any better than this Airbnb in terms of location, which is perched in the smack-bang middle of Freo’s action. Found within the historic, 1853-built Higham’s Buildings, you’ll find a deliciously-designed stay, specifically tailored for a luxury getaway. Surrounded by ornate stained glass windows with generously high ceilings, the apartment is as light and airy as they come – although you’ll be insulated from any noise from the street by the new double glazing.
Life on Lincoln
If you’re looking for a taste of the good life without leaving the city, Life on Lincoln might be just the ticket. This two bedroom, one bathroom space is located within walking distance to Beaufort Street and situated in the 1939 built space that was once part of St. Albans Church next door. It puts you on the doorstep of some great drinking and dining options, but we gotta say lazing around this delightful little Airbnb with sunlight streaming through the window does look pretty darn inviting.
