Have you ever wondered where the available profits from your Lotto tickets go (aside from the big prizes)?

Well, you’ll be pleased to know that not only does it put you in the running to win a life-transforming prize, a portion of your Lotto ticket is helping make great things happen around the state – That’s the Ticket!

In fact, in the last financial year alone, $323 million went straight back into the WA community via Lotterywest’s grants program.

And with FRINGE WORLD just about to kick off for 2023, let’s take a look at how a Lotterywest grant is helping the beloved festival maintain its status as one of the best in the world.

FRINGE WORLD Lotterywest

Last year Lotterywest announced a FRINGE WORLD grant of up to $3.6 million over three years towards the production and management of FRINGE WORLD, a vital input for a festival that sits in the top three in terms of attendance out of over 400 Fringe Festival’s globally!

It’s also become WA’s most attended event, a massive cross-section of the community engages with it including a large subsect of people who don’t normally attend arts and cultural events – which is huge for the performers and entertainment involved.

A big part of the Lotterywest grant has also been in the introduction of the massive FRINGE Sunday Funday, this year taking place on Sunday 22 January 2023 from 1-7pm between Roe and Francis Street in Northbridge.

There’ll be multiple performance spaces for attendees to engage with, showcasing a selection of snippets from a range of FRINGE WORLD 2023 shows, offering the perfect little taster of the kinds of comedy, circus, dance and cabaret shows on offer during the festival.

It’s free to attend and perfect for kids both big and small, with plenty of space to enjoy the Sunday sun and some saucy shows from some of FRINGE’s finest, all while enjoying refreshments from local traders in some delightful alfresco dining areas and shady spots.

We look forward to seeing you there, and if you want to learn more about how Lotterywest grants are helping the WA community head to the Lotterywest Dream State Story Hub.
